While it’s often quicker and more convenient to see a dentist for dental emergencies, you should always dial 911 for life-threatening problems. We can schedule you for a prompt appointment in our office, but unlike 911, we don’t have access to an ambulance or life-saving care!

The average treatment time for Invisalign clear aligners is 12 – 18 months. Compared to braces, which have an average of 2 – 3 years, that’s pretty fast! Still, this estimation assumes that you wear your aligners as instructed by Dr. Makwana. Patients who don’t properly care for their Invisalign or who don’t wear them for 22 hours per day could very well experience prolonged treatment timelines.
Another factor to consider, though, is the severity of your dental misalignment. Teeth that are significantly crooked might take longer to straighten out. Sometimes, pearly whites are also just stubborn. If they don’t respond to the Invisalign aligners as predicted, Dr. Makwana may need to adjust your treatment plan.
Yes; in fact, Dr. Makwana will screen your mouth for oral cancer at every checkup and cleaning visit. It might also reassure you to know that while receiving advanced dental training at the University of Florida, Dr. Makwana focused on treating cancer patients. His unique experience definitely gives him an advantage when it comes to spotting and diagnosing this scary illness.
Not many realize this, but you can be at risk of oral cancer even if you don’t smoke. That’s part of why we emphasize regular check-ups and cleaning visits. With diligent monitoring and Dr. Makwana’s expert examinations, you stand a much better chance of catching oral cancer early, when it’s still easily treatable.
